During the keynote address at WWDC 2009, four app developers are showcased in this short video. This video is meant to inspire others to become developers. Watching this video in late 2009 on the Apple website is how my journey as an iOS app developer began. I must have watched this video a hundred times. The stories of four app developers are interwoven throughout this video:
I identify mostly with Trey Moore who is showcased as a senior software developer that is excited about the mobile app opportunities and the chance to make a real difference in the lives of others.
“It is really the first time we have been able to take a platform and go to our designers and say, ‘There are no limitations.'” – Trey Moore
“In fact sometimes, I have to stop and say, ‘Wow, this is a mobile device I am developing for.’ because it feels like a desktop application API.” – Trey Moore
“Developing for the iPhone SDK actually makes it fun again for the developer.” – Trey Moore
“This is going to be the dominant platform, the dominant device, and it will dominate in healthcare.” – Cameron Powell, MD
“You build the app, you upload it, specify the countries you want, the prices you want, and then it is out there for the entire world to see!” – Chad Evans
This video continues to have a huge impact on me as a software developer.
My favorite part of the video is its amazing global community ending.
My favorite app is . . .
